The National Green Tribunal

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has imposed environmental compensation of Rs 2,900 crores INR on the state of Karnataka for not managing solid as well as liquid waste management (SHOCKER). This is hazardous to environmental and public health and produces intolerable smells, toxic fumes and polluting leachate that make the vicinities unsafe and inhabitant to live in.

It is not like Bangalore is the only city that is producing waste, but it seems to be one of the few cities in India that is taking this crisis seriously, take Indore for example: for the fourth time in a consecutive row, Indore has managed its waste in the most efficient manner and only manages to improve and maintain the standards of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Mission.
It is not like Karnataka does not have access to private players with ready funding, technology and capabilities to alleviate the problem. Just have a look at the waste management facility at Bangalore airport NexusNovus has built. Our state-of-the-art compressed biogas, bio-fertilizer and recycling plant loacted beyond the international airport. With our collective experience in the fields of renewable energy, engineering, technology and export finance, we are currently constructing a project that is going to set a new benchmark in waste management.
